Kenneth E. Cross, 88, of St. Clairsville, OH, died Thursday, March 16, 2017, at Wheeling Hospital.
He was born August 12, 1928, in Belmont County, OH, a son of the late Elmer E. and Mary Hoskinson Cross.
Kenneth was a retired coal miner for Consol Energy’s Ireland Mine. He was a member of East Richland Evangelical Friends Church, U.M.W.A, and he proudly served our country in the U.S Army during the Korean Conflict having received the bronze star and purple heart.
Kenneth was known as Mr. Fix-it to many, and he enjoyed country music, square dancing, hunting, fishing and camping.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Anna M. Hudy Cross on August 30, 2015; sisters, Helen Smallwood, Florence Tomlinson, Mary Price, Betty Ferguson and Ella Mae Price; and a brother, Harold Cross.
Surviving are two daughters, Beverly Ann (Jay) Casdorph of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Barbara Jean (Duane) Richmond of Fort Myers, FL; a sister, Bernadine (Joseph) Satterfield of Bowerstown, OH; five grandchildren, Amy Kirby, Brent Fornal, David Richmond, Justin Richmond and Jocelyn Casdorph; 10 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Beck-Altmeyer Funeral Home and Crematory, 204 West Main St., St. Clairsville, OH, where funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jerry Wenger officiating.
Entombment will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Pleasant Grove, OH, with full military honors conducted by the Belmont County Veterans Association.
