Eugene (Gene) Finney, 96, of Martins Ferry, OH, died, Friday, September 22, 2017, at Forest Hills Care Center, in St. Clairsville, OH.

Gene was born on January 15, 1921, in Martins Ferry, OH, to the late Earl P. and Alice M. (Major) Finney.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen V. (Zitzelsberger) Finney; a son, Robert E. Finney and two brothers, Delbert and Wilbur Finney.

Gene was retired from the former Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Company; served in the United States Army, 419 Engineers Unit during WWII; he was a member of the Holy Name, Knights of Columbus, St. Vincent Helping Hands and the VFW Post 4811. Gene enjoyed bingo, fishing and hunting, watching Ohio State and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He loved spending time with his family and in his earlier years, spending time in his flower garden.

He is survived by his daughter, Nora (John) Ragase, of Upper St Clair, PA and two sisters, Emma Katherine Gilbert and Dorotha (Charles) Stingle.

Friends will be received to pay tribute to Gene and celebrate his life on Monday, September 25th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Borkoski Funeral Home, Tiltonsville, OH.

Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Josephs Catholic Church, in Tiltonsville, OH, with Father William Cross officiating.

Burial will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens, Colerain, OH.
