Jane Louise King, 71, of Shadyside, Ohio, was born August 14, 1946 and passed away Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Wheeling Hospital surrounded by her family.
Preceding her in death was her loving husband, Edwin W. King, whom she married July 29, 1981 and her parents, Kenneth and Louise Stidd all of Shadyside.
Jane is survived by her sister, Nancy (Chuck) Tennyson of Shadyside; a nephew, Michael (Brittany) Tennyson of Washington, PA., a niece, Jane Anne (Matt) Horton of Shadyside and her cherished grand nieces, Emma Louise and Campbell Anne Horton and Hannah Jane Tennyson.
Jane was a former elementary teacher with the Shadyside Schools having retired in June of 1999. She was a member of the Lincoln Avenue United Methodist Church. Jane was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Captina Chapter 489 and Shadyside Chapter 581, where she served as Worthy Matron and Chapter Secretary for several years.
Jane was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and Belmont County Retired Teachers Association. She was among the first five graduates from Ohio University to earn a B.S. in Special Education and furthered her education by earning a masters degree in 1983 in Guidance and Counseling. Jane was also a proud graduate of Shadyside High School, Class of 1964.
Family and friends will be received at the Lincoln Avenue United Methodist Church on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. with services at 11 a.m. Internment will follow at Powhatan Cemetery with Rev. Randy Weaver officiating.
