REVEREND ROBERT ROMICK

The Reverend Robert J. Romick, 91, of Martins Ferry, OH, formerly of Wheeling, WV, died on Sunday, October 8, 2017, at Liza’s Place, Wheeling, WV.

He was born on December 5, 1925 in Martins Ferry, the son of the late William R. Romick and Pearl V. Romick.

After graduating from Martins Ferry High School in 1943, Romick served a tour in Italy with the US Army during WW II, and received a Bronze Star.

Robert was graduated in 1957 from the Northern Baptist College and Seminary in Chicago; where he received his Bachelor of Theology. In 1968 he received his Masters of Christian Education from New York Theological Seminary.

He was a Baptist Minister, whose ministry spanned from 1957 to 2017, with churches in Pittsburgh and three Pastorates in New Jersey. More recently, he was Pastor at the First Baptist Church in Wheeling, for over 14 years; he started Dallas Pike Baptist Church; he was an interim at the First Baptist Church in Martins Ferry; an interim at the First Baptist Church in Wellsburg; and most recently was the Associate Pastor at Agape Baptist Church in Wheeling.

Robert is preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and William, a sister Dolores, his daughter-in- law, Jule and a grandson, Sean.

Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years, Alice V. Stirmel Romick; two sons, Jerry (Teri) of Newnan, GA; and Michael of Wheeling; a daughter, Deborah Glynn (William) of Cincinnati; two brothers, Harold and Richard; two sisters, Phyllis Ogden and Margaret Romick; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Robert, a longtime member of the Wheeling Lions Club, said his only regret in life was that he would not get to see the Cleveland Browns win the super bowl.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 from 4-7 p.m. at the Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger St, Wheeling, WV (304 242-2311). Services will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 1470 National Rd, Wheeling, WV. Interment will be held in the Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling, WV.
