Walter T. “Tom” Hawk, 75, of Martins Ferry, OH, died Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2017, at his home after a courageous battle with prostate cancer.
He was born Jan. 7, 1942, in Wheeling, WV, a son of the late Walter James and Mary Margaret (Norton) Hawk.
He was retired from the Fairmont Supply Company. Tom was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Martins Ferry, and he was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
He was a member of the first graduating class of Bishop Donahue High School in 1959 and a graduate of West Liberty State College in 1968.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Susan Elder and Rose Martin.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 53 years, Bernice M. (Rea) Hawk; children, Lisa (John) Wong of Reynoldsburg, OH, and Tom (Michelle) Hawk of Hilliard, OH; siblings, Robert (Charlotte) Hawk of Emerald Isle, NC, James Hawk of St. Clairsville, OH, and Carol (Douglas) Shoaff of Wheeling, WV; and grandchildren, Luka, Faith, Keyle and Ethan.
Tom was a wonderful husband, father and PeePaw, and everyone loved his quirky sense of humor.
Friends will be received Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, from 10 a.m until time of memorial mass at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Martins Ferry. The Rev. Tom Marut will officiate.
Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
