Eleanor “Jean” Stewart, 89, of Powhatan Point, Ohio died Monday, October 8, 2018 in the Wheeling Hospital.

She was born November 17, 1928 in Belmont County, Ohio a daughter of the late Delbert and Florence Wallace Ward.

Jean was a homemaker, a member of the Powhatan United Methodist Church where she was an active member of the Womens Society, a former council member for the village of Powhatan Point and a member of the Powhatan Improvement Committee.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James R. “Dick” Stewart on February 22, 1994, two sisters, Wanda Mancini and Kaye Goudy and a brother, Jerry Ward.

Surviving are her daughters, Connie ( Chuck) Meyer, Jr. and Debbie (Gary) Prystasz both of Clarington, Ohio, one sister, Madelyn (Melvin) Bigler of Shadyside, Ohio, three brothers, Bill (Connie) Ward and Jess (Melba) Ward both of Beallsville, Ohio, Dick (Rube) Ward of Woodsfield, Ohio and sister-in-law, Lola Lucido of Beallsville, Ohio. Also four grandchildren, JD Hess, Mark Hess, Gara (Mark) Christman and Halli (Zach) Marty, seven great grandchildren, Rylie Hess, Makenzie Hess, Damon Hess, Avery Griffin, Bryce Christman, Maverick Marty and Zayden Marty and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory, 186 Main Street, Powhatan Point, Ohio on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. where services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Theresa Bobot officiating. Interment in the Powhatan Cemetery in Powhatan Point, Ohio.
