Josephine Anne “Sis” (Gmeindl) Paliswat, 95, of Shadyside, Ohio, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2019, at her home.
Sis was born August 7, 1923, in Bellaire, Ohio, a daughter of the late Charles (1900-1972) and Josephine (Sable) Gmeindl (1902-1981).
She was a granddaughter of the late Matthew “Math” (1876-1965) and Mary (Urban) Gmeindl (1879-1920), and Carl (1873-1934) and Barbara (Humpolak) Sable (1879-1969).
She was a Catholic by faith. In her younger years she was a factory worker at Marsh Wheeling.
Sis loved to play baseball with her grandsons, Justin and Luke, and helped teach them to pitch. She never missed one of their baseball or roller hockey games. She loved being outside working, growing flowers and trees. She was an awesome cook, a hard worker, a faithful daughter, a loving wife, a steadfast mother, and a one-of-a-kind grandmother.
In addition to her parents and grandparents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank Paliswat on April 7, 2009. They were united in marriage on September 23, 1944, at St John Catholic Church in Bellaire. She was also predeceased by her brother, Walter Matthew Gmeindl on November 5, 1980.
Surviving are her twin sons, Frank C. (Mary Catherine) Paliswat of Shadyside, and Jerry J.(Anne Marie) Paliswat of Canton, Ohio; five grandchildren, Justin and Luke (Brea) Paliswat, Brad (Brittany), Eric (Rebecca), and Nick (Allyssa) Paliswat; six great-grandchildren, Lily, Jax, Emma, Mara, and Jozie Mae Paliswat, and Milo Freel.

Family and friends will be received Thursday, January 10, 2019 from 5-7 p.m. at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3900 Central Ave., Shadyside, Ohio, where funeral services will be held Friday, January 11, 2019 at 11 a.m. with Fr.
