Clyde Willis Memorial?Pow Wow set
THE ORDER of the Arrow Onondaga Lodge of the Ohio River Valley Council will host the 5th Clyde Willis Memorial Pow Wow on June 11 and 12 at the Hopedale American Legion. The purpose of this event is to bring Native American dancers, drummers and singers together for a weekend of sharing Native American culture and customs.
This is an Intertribal Southern style Pow Wow. It is not a competition Pow Wow, just a gathering.
We encourage all natives and non-natives to attend There will be Native American drumming, dancing, and singing. There will also be native American food available and various native vendors selling their goods.
Between each show there will be games and story telling for everyone to enjoy.
This event is open to the public.
THE HARRISON County Ohio Landowner’s Group (HCOLG) will meet today from 6-8 p.m. at St. Teresa’s Church Activity Center, 143 E. South St., Cadiz.
Open to the public, the meeting’s topic will be gas leases in the county.
THE FREEPORT Farmers Sportsman Club will host its annual Fishing Derby today from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Children ages 3 through 12 are encouraged to participate in the event held at Twin Hills Park, Cummings Road, Freeport.
Each child participating in the derby will receive a t-shirt, rod and reel, grab bag and more.
Bait for fishing, food for the participants and fishing instruction is provided by the members of the sportsmans club and various sponsors.
A PASTURE Walk is planned for Thursday, May 26, at the Bick farm located at 6193 Apollo Rd. SE, Amsterdam. The walk is set to commence 6 p.m.
Topics of interest will include watering systems and the benefits of Artificial Insemination. In addition, Kevin Hinds of Coba/Select Sires will be on hand to discuss the benefits of the process.
Participants will also be able to speak with representatives of the Eastern ohio Grazing Council, Soil and Water Conservancy District, and NRCS personnel following the workshop.
Refreshments will be provided and registration is required by May 23.
The walk is presented by the Eastern Ohio Grazing Council in cooperation with Carroll, Columbiana, Harrison, Jefferson and Mahoning Soil andWater Conservation Districts and the Natural Resources Conservation Service.

THE FIFTH Annual Memorial Day Car Show at the Scott United Methodist Church on 81 E. Market St. on May 30.
Registration ($5 per vehicle) is from 12 -3 p.m. followed by the show which concludes at 6 p.m.
Door prizes, food stand, 50/50 drawing, free blood pressure checks will be available and dash plaques will be awarded to the first 100 cars participating in the show. In addition, there will be best of show awards and music by DJ Spikeman.

GRADUATES OF Scio High School will be gathering on May 28 for the Alumni Reunion which is to be held at the Scio American Legion. All graduates, teachers and friends are invited to attend. Student scholarships will be awarded at the event.
Members from the Class of 1971 will present the program.
The dinner is sent to being at 6 p.m. and cost is $15 per person. Reservations are required and may be made by calling 740-945-2172.
THE COMMUNITY of Cadiz will be bussing when the Cadiz Business Association hosts the annual Yard Sale days on June 3 and 4. Families, businesses and organizations of the Cadiz area are expected to participate in the 13th hirteenth annual event.
Merchants of the community are being encouraged to hold sidewalk sales on the same weekend, and organizations are invited to schedule fund-raisers, such as bake sales, car washes, etc.
The Cadiz Business Association asks each participant to donate a registration fee of $3 which ensures their locations and sale information will be included in advertising and on flyers distributed the weekend of the sale. Yard sales may be held on either, or both, of the schedule days . Registration forms are available at the Cadiz-Harrison County Visitors Center, Ormes Hardware, Coffy’s, Shurfast, and DiAngelo’s.
THE JEWETT VFW Post 3071 will hold a pancake and sausage breakfast on May 28 at the Kountry Kettle Restaurant in Jewett.
Advance sale tickets are $4 each. At the door, tickets are $5 each.

HARRISON COUNTY Sheriff Joe Myers has released the stats from his office’s March Traffic Enforcement Overtime Program.
Myers said that during March, deputies worked a total of 67 hours of overtime targeting traffic enforcement. During those hours 69 traffic stops were made which resulted in eight speeding citations, two Driving Under Suspension citations, two safety belt violations, one Operating a Vehicle While Impaired arrest and 14 other citations.
Deputies logged 1,049 miles of additional patrol on Harrison County roadways during the time period.
The next traffic safety overtime program will be conducted during the nationwide “Click it or Ticket” blitz which begins May 23 and runs through June 5.
Also, from May 25 through June 2, the office will conduct a 35-hour block on non-blitz patrols focusing on speed enforcements and watching for impaired drivers.
Funding for the overtime is provided through the Ohio Traffic Safety Office.
