Commencement: An exciting beginning
Throughout the valley, graduation ceremonies are scheduled, seniors are anxious to begin a new phase in their lives, and parents sense the bittersweet tug of the “empty nest” and never wanting to let go. Graduation ceremonies at Buckeye Local High School will be held on June 3 at 6 p.m. at the World War II Memorial Stadium in Yorkville. To the graduates of BLHS and to all area high school and college grads, congratulations and best wishes to each you, To quote an unknown author, “I hope your dreams take you to the corners of your smiles, to the highest of your hopes, to the windows of your opportunities, and to the most special places your heart has ever known.”
God bless you all.
Relay for Life
Final plans are being made for the 8th annual Relay. The Buckeye Relay For Life will take place on June 1 and 2 at Buckeye Local High School. The survivor lap opens the event at 6 p.m. and activities conclude at noon on Saturday. The survivor lap is an important aspect of the Relay. This is an emotional time and inspiring to see our friends and neighbors who have fought or are fighting this cancer battle and are winning. The Relay Committee would like to have as many survivors as possible participate and be honored. Therefore, if you are a survivor or know of someone who is, you are encouraged to come to the Relay and register. A survivor dinner is provided for survivors and their caregivers.
No matter why you take part in Relay, one thing is clear with every step you take, you are helping the American Cancer Society save lives. With your help, we aren’t just fighting one type of cancer – we’re fighting for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community. Each person who shares the Relay experience can take pride in knowing that they are working to create a world where this disease will no longer threaten the lives of our loved ones or claim another year of anyone’s life.
