YTR:?Home to a special group of people
Volunteers are not paid — not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless” Unknown
The people of YTR are known for their kindness and their generosity.
The spirit of volunteering is always evident here.
St. Vincent’s Helping Hands of St. Joseph and St. Lucy Catholic churches and the Yorkville Methodist Church operate weekly food pantries. The Warren Township Lions have undertaken numerous projects to benefit our communities and our schools.
YTR sponsors a monthly Produce Distribution at the Yorkville Fire Department. Our volunteer firefighters give freely of their time and talents to serve in both times of need and in supporting our communities. The Indian Club sponsors projects to aid our youth. Volunteers coach Little League baseball and softball and our swim team. Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts are available for our children to learn about service to our citizens. The recent Back to School Bash held at Buckeye Local is another example of the giving spirit alive in our area. Our local clergy visit the sick and offer both spiritual and emotional comfort when needed. And so important, and much appreciated, are those who have served or who are currently serving in our military, keeping us safe and free. There are so many ways to volunteer in YTR. If you can, give it a try. The rewards far outweigh the effort.
