CLOSE BUT not close enough.
The 2012-13 United Way Campaign for the Upper Ohio Valley is nearing its finish line. While contributions have been pledged at a substantial rate, some work remains to be done to reach goal.
Judy Riesbeck Wright is campaign chair. She notes that the campaign goal is $777,777. So far, a total of $648,826, or 83.4 percent, has been reached.
We commend all those who have donated to the cause, as the United Way helps countless agencies and individuals.
We share the same hope as Wright. That being the entire goal can be attained. Wright believes individual donations can mean the difference in making that a reality.
“While many area businesses and organizations are conducting workplace campaigns through outright donations or payroll deduction plans, we know there are many other area residents who do not have the opportunity to donate this way, and are wondering how they can help their communities,” Wright said. “So we’re asking individuals to join the United Way campaign with their donations, which can be sent directly to the United Way office.”
Just like one vote, one individual can make a big difference. We encourage those who have not donated to this heartwarming cause to do so as soon as possible.
Another way to support the cause is the annual United Way Night at the Races is set for Friday, March 15 at Wheeling Island Hotel Casino Racetrack Tickets are $30 each and may be reserved by calling the United Way at 304-232-4625.
Wright said individual donations can be sent to: The United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley, 51-11th St., Wheeling, WV 26003. Any questions may be answered by calling the office at 304-232-4625.
