New Home

THE COLERAIN Fire Company is bubbling with pride these days. And well it should.

The fire company unveiled its new home Sunday in a grand and festive celebration, featuring state dignitaries and fire company members past and present. The state-of-the-art facility was definitely needed by firefighters, as the previous one had long outlived its usefulness.

The new fire station has it all. The company’s five vehicles may now all be parked under cover. A new office, lounge, restrooms and utility room are just some of the features.

Members earn our praise for their vision and commitment. When the fire company purchased the former Hilltop School, located adjacent to the new firehouse, it was the dream of members to construct a facility at the site.

That dream became reality Sunday, after several months of construction and passionate fundraising. An exact price tag is not being placed on the firehouse, but members utilized several methods to generate the needed revenue. For that we commend their dogged determination.

The new firehouse is more than just show.

The fire company, already a superb unit, will be able to deliver even better fire and emergency service to its customers. The Colerain group must cover more than 22 miles, making quicker response time a possible lifesaver.

The Colerain Fire Company and the residents in its coverage area should be filled with a great sense of pride and accomplishment. They should also feel safer.
