CHEERS to Ohio Valley Mall and Levin Furniture officials for reaching an agreement that will bring the retailer back to the St. Clairsville mall. The new tenant will fill the building on the mall’s perimeter that was vacated by hhgregg when it declared bankruptcy and closed all of its stores.

CHEERS to Granger Construction and Monroe County leaders for ensuring that construction of a new jail remains on schedule and within the set budget of $15.5 million. A tour of the half-completed facility was offered recently, and officials said the project is on track to be finished in December.

JEERS to repeat DUI offenders such as Lance David Graham, who was sentenced last week for his sixth conviction. Those who get behind the wheel after drinking alcohol endanger themselves, their passengers and everyone else who happens to be driving or walking in their path.

CHEERS to the Martins Ferry Police Department and other city leaders, who made a special gesture to a pair of youngsters who have been battling cancer. Leo Zambori and Dominic Alexander were declared honorary officers and gifted several related items this past week.

CHEERS to the Bellaire Local School District for arranging for its baseball team to have a permanent home for the next 50 years. The district signed a lease with the Neffs Fire Department for use of a site each spring. A complete overhaul of the field is already underway.

CHEERS to Lance Mehl on his retirement from the Belmont County Conduct Adjustment Program. He made an impact on many young lives during his 20 years with the program.
