Aiding Shelter

Dear Editor,

I am writing to thank everyone who made a donation to the Belmont County Animal Shelter at my recent fundraisers. I recently spent three days at the Ohio Valley Mall, three days at Christmas in November at the Wheeling Civic Arena, the Jewett craft show, two “wag days” at Reisbecks in St. Clairsville and one at Riesbecks in Barnesville and the Barnesville Christmas craft show. I had good intentions of mentioning the names of everyone who made a donation. Because the response was overwhelming, I decided I might accidently omit someone. Therefore, I would just like to thank everyone again for making generous donations to the shelter.

Your gifts are more important now than ever. Because of the economy, several people have relinquished their animals to the shelter. As many of you know, the shelter is also very over crowded due to confiscating over 75 animals because of a local hoarding situation. Last but not least, the shelter has to feed several horses that were found starving.

I would like to thank all my friends who baked cookies and dog biscuits and donated their time to help with these fundraisers.

Merry Christmas to all of those who helped the animals and may your holidays be brighter because of your generosity.
