With Christmas 2011 only a fond memory for some, we at The Salvation Army of Belmont County would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank You” to those individuals who gave their time and talents to help others in need.
Service clubs, families and individuals volunteered to ring kettle bells, wrap gifts, sponsor a family or a child, purchase gifts for a child on The Salvation Army Giving Tree located at the Ohio Valley Mall or one of our Angel Trees located in area businesses and churches.
Schools and businesses throughout Belmont County participated in a food drive, collecting thousands of food items for the hungry. Area agencies worked with us to create a united effort in assisting the many less fortunate families and individuals throughout Belmont County in these challenging economic times.
The Christmas Kettle Effort is a vital part of The Salvation Army’s ministry, which enabled us, with the help of many volunteers and donors, to assist 2264 people this year. Christmas food assistance was received by 523 families, and 1005 children received gifts.
A homeless person was fed, an out-of-work family was helped, and Christmas was brighter for many – all because people cared enough to share!
Thank you for helping The Salvation Army of Belmont County do the most people in need, and may God bless each and everyone of you with a healthy, happy, and prosperous new year.
Louis A. Patrick, Captain
