Out of Touch

Dear Editor:

Bill Johnson and the House Republican’s passing of the Paul Ryan budget shows Bill Johnson and the Republican Party’s true colors. Besides the terrible privatizing of Medicare and Social Security this budget is Robin Hood in reverse. It takes from the poor and gives to the rich. Ryan’s budget cuts Medicaid, food stamps, school lunches, breast and cervical cancer screening, child immunizations, and veteran’s benefits. It increases the Pentagon’s budget, which the Pentagon had decreased. What’s really appalling is the additional tax cuts for the rich. That’s on top of the Bush tax cuts.

Paul Ryan says, ” I grew up reading Ayn Rand and it taught me quite a bit about who I am and what my value systems are, and what my beliefs are. ” Ayn Rand, an avowed atheist, is required reading for Ryan’s staff. It’s no wonder the Catholic Bishops are outraged and have protested Ryan’s budget, since two-thirds of the cuts are to the poor and disadvantaged.

Bill Johnson’s values, and Paul Ryan’s, are not the values of this district.

Charlie Wilson cares about the working and middle class.

He will work to help better all citizens of the district, not just the rich.

Britt Johnson
