Belmont County Special Olympics hosted an Area 9 state bowling qualifier at St. Clair Lanes on Friday, April 27. This was the first time Belmont has had the opportunity to host this event. Over 70 bowlers from 4 counties participated in 18 divisions. Lunch was provided, courtesy of Defelice Bros. Pizza and Riesbecks, and each participant received an award.
I would like to personally thank Paramount Support Services, Tomorrow’s Corner, Belmont County Board of DD transportation, WTRF-TV 7, Sheila Blackmore and her outstanding group of volunteers from St. John’s Central High School.
In addition, thanks to Lance Richards, Scott Metz, Kim Clark, Taylor Bellville, and Linda Kyanko for their time, effort and committment to the athletes.
Finally, I want to thank Gary Holubeck and his staff at St. Clair Lanes. Gary has made it possible for our bowlers to have access to a first rate facility for many years. He has been unselfish with his time, generous with his resources, and the bowlers love him. The tournament at St. Clair Lanes on April 27 was the best managed qualifier I’ve ever witnessed. Thanks again, Gary, and we are looking forward to next year’s state qualifier at St. Clair Lanes.
