Cost of Freedom

Dear Editor

On behalf of my wife Lydia, daughter Tamara and myself, I would like to thank Mr. Phil Remke for his efforts in bringing the Cost of Freedom exhibit to Moundsville.

Our family spent Friday, Saturday and Sunday helping people find the names of their loved ones on the Vietnam Wall. We heard so many stories about the boys whose names appear among the 58,000 plus men and women killed in Vietnam. We were proud to share the smiles and tears of thousands of people. Our small contribution was just a small part of a much larger effort by citizens of the Ohio Valley to honor those who gave their all in the fight for the freedoms this nation enjoys. There were hundreds of other people who also gave their time and energy to make this such a successful event. It is because of the vision and effort of Phil that all this became a reality.

For an individual who himself never served in the military to put so much effort in this project is indeed rare. As a veteran I salute Mr. Phil Remke. Were it within my power, I would name him an HONORARY VIETNAM VETERAN.

Thank you Phil, thank you Moundsville, and thank you Ohio Valley.
