Car Show

Dear Editor,

The Meadowbrook Church of God Car Show which included cars, trucks, motorcycles and antique equipment was a great success this year with 45 entries.

We would like to these thank local businesses for their support and generous donations/door prizes: United Dairy and Primo’s Italian Carry/Out, Martins Ferry; Huntington Bank and Citizen Bank, Tiltonsville; Dairy Queen, Rayland; Auto Zone, Wintersville; Play It Again Sports, Elm Grove and The Times Leader/Wheeling Intelligencer/Herald Star and Green Tab.

Summit Racing Equipment provided an excellent “Car Show” kit. It included a banner, vehicle, identification card with a catalog request form and kids voting ballets with stickers and plastic bags for our door prizes.

Tiltonsville Fire Department entered a 1951 American LaFrance fire engine, which received a people’s choice award in the Equipment category. It was an educational experience for both our young and more mature voters to enjoy.

There were two entries from members’ under the age of ten: WV Beetle Convertible (Madison Hennen) and a KittCar (Jacob Terrill). Each one received a trophy in the Kid’s Choice category. It is wonderful to see the interests in our young people.

We want to thank Sam Croft for being our guest speaker and for sharing his message on “Future of America.”

This year we were able to broaden our range of advertising (both in the newspapers and on the internet) due to the assistance of Tim and James Zac sharing their experience and knowledge of promoting car shows.

I personally want to thank each person from Meadowbrook Church of God that sponsored the cost of a trophy; provided numerous car products to be used as door prizes; WCG Ladies and Youth Team for bringing and serving the wonderful food/homemade desserts that were available all day and the worker’s that helped set-up park cars, registration and the clean-up.

We had 44 door prizes ready to give out; needing one more door prize, a Free Registration w/dash plaque for our 2013 Car Show on Sept. 15 (Rain Date, Sept. 22, 2013) was given out.

Again, we want to thank everyone that participated and was our guest to this year’s annual car show to make it the success it was.

Come and join us for morning worship service on Sunday at 10:30 a.m., 10152 State Route 150, Rayland, Ohio. For more information about the church or its services, phone, 740-859-6511
