I, Thomas Nelms, Fire Chief of Powhatan Point Volunteer Fire Department along with our members would like to extend a heartfelt thank you. This past weekend was our 8th annual Christmas in the Village Parade.
We would like to thank the following people for helping make it a success. First, our Grand Marshals, former Fire Chiefs and Squad captains some of them had to travel to get here for the event. They were as follows, Ebbie Sheppard, Web Perry, Harley Thomas, Bud Howard, Diane Baker, Billie McGee and Linda Josefczyk. We would also like to thank our three judges, Alan Ketzell Assistant Fire Chief Brookside Fire Dept., Mike McVey, superintendent of Steubenville Schools, Terry Snively retired coach and teacher. We would also like to thank Wheeling Hospital, 1-800-BoardUp and Abby’s lounge for sponsoring our Christmas parade. Also a special thank you to Dave Goff of Whitesides for donating vehicles for our grand marshals to ride in, along with our line up help Charles Stora, James Yager, and Steve Novakoski. Scott Vandyne for help setting up and Fred Vandyne for photos. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Bigler for their help in organizing participants. Tommy Knight and Ross Ogilbee of Bridgeport Equipment for donating a utility vehicle for the day. Mr. and Mrs James Sisson for use of their PA system. Mr. and Mrs. John Rosnik for use of their doorstep and electricity. Special thanks to Don Ramsey for his participation along with Chief Jack Regis of Martins Ferry fire department for use of their ladder truck for Santa Claus to ride on. All participants in the parade we thank you for your support. Last but not least would like to thank Suzanne Hendershot and the Christmas in the Village planning committee for another huge successful Christmas in the Village. Parade winners: Belmont Aggregates, Ohio West Virginia Excavating, Swegards auto and towing, York Township, Amity Church, Church of Nazerene and Bridgeport High School marching band. Fire and EMS were Tiltonsville, Spirit of 76, Glen Dale, and Martins Ferry.
