Sgt. Bergdahle

Dear Editor,

No one yet knows anything about the circumstances surrounding Sgt. Bowe Bergdahle.

One thing we do know is that Sgt. Bergdahle enlisted in the army, and his conduct was such that he was promoted to his present rank by his commander.

It is a stinking shame that he is being beaten over the back without any charges against him. Actually, regardless of the outcome he is part of only about 1% of our children and grandchildren who have been carrying the rest of us on their backs by volunteering into the military.

He spent 5 years as a prisoner of war and his parents have been threatened by some lousy cowards. What happened to charity? Why the vendetta against Sgt. Bergdahle by the Times Leader? The political cartoon of the children making fun of Sgt. Bergdahle was especially egregious.

Pertaining to the VA backlog; on Feb. 27 the U.S. Senate blocked a bill that would have improved veterans access to health care.

The vote was 54 Democrats and 2 Republications for the bill, and 41 Republications against the bill. It failed because it needed 60 votes to pass.

I would suggest the reinstitution of the universal military and national service draft, so that all Americans will share the burden such the 5 that were killed recently.
