Kudos to all those responsible for the organization and production of the New Athens Bi-Centennial Celebration. We would like to thank all those, too numerous to mention by name, for their personal resources to make it happen.
From the museum dinner and dance Friday evening; the Saturday activities (cemetery walk, car show, wagon tour, 1860s men’s and women’s baseball games, tea and quilt show, dance and dinners at the fire hall and the entertaining fire work display). And to close the weekend, Sunday’s church service. It was truly a memorable weekend.
It makes us proud to be able to acknowledge the village as our home. May you continue to thrive and celebrate another 200 years and beyond. Bless you New Athens, “Home Sweet Home.”
