Love in the Wild

July 7, 2011 - Kim Collette
Love in the Wild is NBC's new "adventure-dating series." The show sends 10 single men and 10 single women into the jungle of Costa Rica. In each episode the "couples" will pair up and go on "adventures" like building a raft to paddle down a crocodile filled river or hiking through bat filled caves. Each week, the winning couple shares a five-star bungalow. The rest of the "couples" stay in the less fancy cabins. By the end of each episode, the men and women get to decide whether to stay with their current partner or choose someone new to couple up with. At the end of all the decision making, there are 2 "hearbroken" singles sent home.

I watched the first episode of Love in the Wild last week and have the second episode ready to be fired up on the dvr. And, even though I haven't seen much of this reality competition series, it seems to be a mash-up of some shows you all might have heard of. Think Bachelor/Bachelorette, Survivor, The Amazing Race and Paradise Hotel.....mash those 4 shows together and you get Love in the Wild.

I enjoyed the first show, not a lot, but it did keep me entertained on an otherwise lazy Saturday Morning. It will be interesting to see as the show goes along how many "couples" are truly formed that stay together and compete or how many hearts get broken when there is a "next" option.

I'm not sure if I'm sold on this show yet....but, I was hooked to Paradise Hotel, so anything is possible. I will probably stick it out for the entire season (since I can dvr the show) just to make sure I don't need to ad it to my "favs."

Until next time friends!
