The Firebirds jumped out to a 6-2 lead, but a pair of threes from Tyler Joseph and one from Brian Hecker has given the Warriors an 11-6 advantage with 4:36 to play in the first stanza. After a fast start for both teams, play slowed down over the second half of the opening period with quite a few turnovers and personal foul calls. However, Tyler Joseph connected on yet another trifecta for the Warriors and Lamar McKnight Jareed Robinson countered with inside hoops for the Firebirds to cut the deficit to 16-13. Zach Joseph then scored three the old fashion way with a hoop and harm to close out the first quarter scoring (19-13). Tyler Joseph is leading in the scoring column with nine markers on three triples. Lamar McKnight opened up the second period scoring with a top of the key jumper for Chanel to give him six tallies for the game. The Warriors' Bobby Condon followed that up with a lay up off a nifty inside pass from Brian Hecker (21-15 WC). A made free throw and a inside bucket by McKnight cuts the lead to 21-18 with just under five minutes to play in the half. The comeback continues following a turn around jump hook by Arthur Jordan, which leads to a WC timeout. Following the timeout, Hecker scored his fourth and fifth point on an inside basket to stop the run. Hecker scores again on an inside floater, but the Firebirds' Nate Novak answered with a three point basket. Zach Joseph came right back with an answered triple giving WC a 28-23 advantage. The Warriors Josh Sinclair connects on a triple as well. Jo'vaughn Brown stopped the bleeding with a hoop. At the buzzer, Brian Hecker drops home a runner from the 30-feet to give WC a 34-25 halftime lead. Hecker now has 10 points in the game to lead all scores, while Tyler Joseph has nine counters and Lamar McKnight lead the Firebirds with eight points. WC made seven of 15 three-point attempts in the first half of action for 47%.
Tyler Joseph opened up the second half with his fourth triple of the game. Brian Hecker cashed in on a pair freebies. Lamar McKnight answered again with a three-point shot to cut the lead to 39-28. Hecker followed with an old school baseline jumper. Art Jordan comes back with an inside basket for the Firebirds followed by a steal and hoop for John Mosely for the Birds. Bobby Condon quickly scored four answered for the Warriors on a pair of break away lay ins. WC leads 45-32 with 3:45 to go in the third chapter. Hecker now has 14 tallies in the game to go along with five rebounds. Jordan sinks a pair of charity tosses for Chanel. Tyler Joseph hits his fifth trifecta of the game. Jordan hoop and harm for the Birds. Hecker picks up his third foul on the play. WC now leads 50-37 following a Brady Beals lay up. Sophomore Isaiah Chambers scores inside for Chanel. Brady Beals misses a pair at the line. Jo'vaughn Brown lights up a triple to shred the lead to 50-42 with 14.8 seconds to play in the third. Nick Thomas makes one out of two at the line for the Warriors. At the end of three, WC leads 51-42. Tyler Joseph has 15 points all on threes and Brian Hecker has added 14 lightings. Lamar McKnight continues to lead the way for the Firebirds with 11 counters. WC is nine of 21 from the three-point line and leads on the boards (27-21). WC has 10 turnovers, while Chanel has just six.
Art Jordan opens up the fourth quarter scoring with a physical inisde basket, but missed the and one opportunity. The Birds got a steal, but McKnight's one-handed slam attempt bounced off the back of the iron in a fierce attempt in traffic. McKnight comes back with a top of the key three ball to give him 14 points for the contest and close the gap to 51-47 with 6:52 to play in the game. Zach Joseph nails down a pair of free throws to give him eight points and four assists for the contest. Brian Hecker picked up his fourth foul with 6:00 minutes to go, and checks out of the game with 5:50 to play. Bobby Condon scored a great drive and dish from Zach Joseph. WC leads 55-47 with 4:56 left in the contest. John Mosely makes one out of two free throws for the Birds. Lamar McKnight connects on one of two at the charity stripe. Warriors lead 55-49 as a timeout was called by WC with 4:22 to play. Condon scores on inside hoop off an unbelievable no look pass from Hecker. The aforementioned Hecker makes one out of two charity tosses. Zach Joseph converts one of two foul shots. McKnight scores on an inside bucket. WC leads 59-51 with 2:29 to go in the encounter. Zach Joseph back at the line where he makes both shots. Jareed Robinson hits a triple for the Firebirds (61-54). Zach Joseph makes one out of two at the foul line. The Worhtington Christain faithful is starting to sense victory with just over a minute to play. Zach Joseph misses a pair. Tyler Joseph knocks down a pair of free throws. Lamar McKnight misses inside, but grabs his own boards and scores to make the score 64-56 with 40.7 seconds to play in the game. Tyler Joseph misses a pair. Zach Joseph cashes in on both free throw attempts. Lamar McKnight with another inside bucket with 5.4 seconds to play. Ball game! WC wins 66-58 to advance to Saturday's final against the winner of the next game (New Knoxville and Haviland Wayne Trace). That game will be coming up at 8:30 p.m. and it will be blogged live from the Schottenstein Center.
Tyler Joseph led the Warriors with 17 points including five three balls, Brian Hecker notched 15 markers, Bobby Condon scored 13 points, and Zach Joseph added 14 tallies.
Lamar McKnight led Chanel with 21 points, while Arthur Jordan added 13 tallies.
WC outrebounded Chanel, 35-32.
