Go Bid or Go Home!
September 2, 2011 - Kim Collette
That is the tag line for season 2 of Storage Wars. Storage Wars is a "reality" television show on the A & E Network. Storage Wars follows teams of bidders looking to "score big" in storage auctions. As the show's website states, "the stakes are higher; the rivalries more intense; the drama more explosive. Get set for a wild ride with everyone's favorite treasure hunters."
The show features an auctioneer, Dan Dotson and his wife Laura, auctioning off abandoned storage units in Southern California. There are four main buyers that the show follows each week. The main buyers are: Dave Hester---known as the "mogul." He owns a large thrift store that employees a number of employees. He is probably the second highest financed of the group. He is also known as the antagonist of the bunch. Never one to back down, he often drives up the cost of a locker just to show his power. Darrell Sheets---known as the "gambler." Darrell and his son Brandon usually clash with Dave. From the gist of the show, Darrell sells his finds at swap meets and flea markets. Jarrod Schulz---know as the "young gun." Jarrod and his girlfriend of 12 years recently opened their own thrift shop. They have the least amount of money of the group. And.....Barry Weiss---known as the "collector." Barry is the oldest of the bidders, but has the most money. He sells or donates everything that he finds, but occaissonally will keep a few items for his own collection.
Storage Wars is a very entertaining show. You never know what treasures the bidders might uncover in an old shoe box or trunk. While watching you realize that cash is king and winner takes all....but it doesn't mean you'll come out on top. (Yuuuup! for fans of the show already!)
Until next time friends!
