Who opened the freezer door?
September 7, 2011 - Taste Buds
According to the Buds' calendar, autumn begins on Sept. 23. You sure could have fooled us, though! After the cement bubbling, face melting weather this weekend (particularly Saturday), the weather this week has felt like an electric shock to our bodies. Bud Em had to pull out her fleece bunny slippers, and Bud Shaunna dove head first into her snuggie.
Even if the weather warms up again (which we are quite sure it will), this is just a sign that summer really is almost over. We'll have to start packing up our flip flops, shorts and tank tops in favor of boots, hoodies and sweatpants. This is also the time of year when you'll need to turn your heater on in the morning on the way to work and then blast your air conditioner on the way home. But don't get us wrong--we love autumn. We're just a little bummed that the summer went by so fast.
The Buds suggest doing everything you can to take in the last little bits of summer. Get outside and enjoy the Belmont County Fair, the Friendship Food and Wine Festival, the Barnesville Pumpkin Festival, high school football games, and the countless other activities for which the weather is still pretty great. Sure, it might be a tad chilly outside, but the Buds prefer light jackets over heavy winter parkas! Cool evenings are great for reading outside or sitting around a fire pit and chatting with family and friends.
Squeeze what you can out of the next two weeks. After all, there are only 109 shopping days left until Christmas!
