The Sing-Off

October 6, 2011 - Kim Collette
The Sing-Off is yet another reality singing competition on television. It is quickly becoming my guilty pleasure. In fact, I think The Sing-Off may possibly be the best singing competition on the air. Let me give you an insight to this show. 1. There are only 2 rules for competing on this show. You must be a group and two you must sing a capella (for those who don't know...that means no instruments except the performers voices). 2. The show is actually focused on the performing. There are no cat fights shown or sob stories. It truly is all about the music. 3. There is no waiting. Unlike all of the other singing competitions, where there is a performance night and an elimination night....The Sing-Off groups perform and get eliminated on the same night. A few rounds are determined solely by the judges but the winner is decided by audience votes. 4. The talent is just better. This shows singers as raw, unadulterated talent. And even more commendable is the fact that there are no musicians backing them up. You can truly sit and watch a show and forget they are singing a capella.

The Sing-Off is better than ever. It isn't about the celebrity of the judges. In fact, it's a reality show where the judges give constructive criticism and the other contestants actually root for each other. The show represents all walks and ages in life as well as all genres of music. It is the one show on t.v. that I don't reach for my remote to fast forward.

If you haven't checked it out and would like to, the Sing-Off airs on Monday evenings.

Until next time friends!
