No more cookies!
December 28, 2011 - Taste Buds
Uncle! Uncle! We're waving our white flags in surrender! You win, holiday season. The Buds are powerless against your bevvy of sugar-laden sweet treats and fatty side dishes.
Sigh. The above paragraph is a cry of futility, although it sure felt good to let that out. But it's too late. The Buds have succumbed to unhealthy eating habits prevalent around this time of year.
It all started innocently enough. During the office Christmas party, the Buds took normal sized helpings. Of everything. And then we hit the dessert table. We'll just go on record by saying that table was a definitive gut buster. Many antacids were consumed later in the afternoon.
You'd think we would have learned our lesson, but no! How could we resist the leftovers? We're only human. We don't have will power of steel. And then people sent cookies. The fruit basket was a nice healthy break--we did make short work of that in the office. But the cookies and fudge and dips and chips greatly outnumbered the healthy treats. I mean, how many people are going to choose an orange over a peanut butter thumbprint with a Hershey's kiss on top? The Buds don't discriminate. We'd just eat both.
As the holiday eating season winds down, the Buds can maybe let out a sigh of relief. After all, a good pair of "eatin' pants" with the elastic waist band aren't always appropriate for the office, so unless measures are taken to resume healthy eating, coworkers may find the Buds wearing "repeat" outfits several times (like 5 days) a week. We ask you--is there anything more uncomfortable than a tight pair of pants? The Buds say no!
Next week, it's back to lunchtime salads. Someone pass the ranch (fat free, of course).
