Banking on Youth
February 7, 2012 - Robert "Bubba" Kapral
The Martins Ferry Civics have come to bank on the support of a tremendous sponsor. The Ferry Civics have embarked on an ambitious project at Fodor Field, encompassing new dugouts, new backstop, fencing, a shed and commentator box. Renovation of such magnitude doesn't come cheaply. Enter the Citizens Bank. The local financial institution has been a supporter of the Ferry Civics and Fodor Field for several years now. Citizens Bank stepped to the plate in grand-slam fashion recently in the form of a $30,000 donation to assist with the field facelift. The bank's ongoing generosity will help fuel the recreation renaissance in the Purple City. The Lions Club recently installed a state-of-the-art playground, adjacent to Fodor Field. Once the Fodor Field work is completed the city will boast a recreational complex that will provide youths a wide range of activities while also evoking a deep sense of community pride. With such entities as the Citizens Bank and the Lions Club making youth a target of their respective philanthropy, the future of Martins Ferry looks to have a solid foundation.
