Manning Sacks Tebowmania
March 19, 2012 - Robert "Bubba" Kapral
TEBOWMANIA will have a short shelf life in Denver. Tim Tebow set the Mile High City and much of the NFL on fire last season after taking over under center and leading the Broncos to the playoffs. Tebowmania intensified after the charismatic southpaw stunned the Steelers with a long overtime TD pass, ousting the Black & Gold from the playoffs. Tebow has a brand like no other. That all changed Monday when Peyton Manning -- the most-sought after free agent in league history -- opted to sign with Denver. Manning is an NFL legend who will steal the Denver thunder from Tebow. The Manning signing almost guarantees that Tebowmania will be moved to another NFL city. Manning and the Broncos do not need the distraction that Tebow would bring in his role as a backup. Manning and the Broncos will be a good fit. Manning, if healthy, has few if any peers. In the Broncos, he joins a team built to win now, positioned in a weak AFC division. Don't shed a tear for Tebow. No need to. The former Florida Gator star, arguably the greatest college football player ever, has too much character to wallow in sorrow. There will be a team chomping at the bit to land his services. Tebowmania is far from over. It just needs to relocate.
