She said 'Yes'
January 2, 2013 - Michael Palmer
Hope you all had a nice holiday season. The highlight of our holidays was the announcement by our son that he had proposed and she had said ,”yes.”
Like in most cases, the bride to be was way ahead of the game. Within minutes of the proposal she was hitting him a date for the wedding, with questions on the ceremony and asking about updated mailing lists for invitations.
I explained that young girls play usually includes baby dolls and bridal gowns, so it should have come as little surprise that she was miles ahead.
It is a unique ring, since they both work at the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha and both have Biology degrees, it only makes sense that the stone contains a bug. To be specific it is a pre-historic beetle encased in fossil resin. I am fairly certain that she is the only fiance in the nation with such a bauble on her left ring finger. Not everyone's cup of tea, but it represents a special kind of bond between these two young people and I love it.
My wife was also ready to run with the ball when the news finally came. You see, we had been given a preview of the engagement ring when he was home for a holiday visit a few weeks ago.
So she is already checking flights, hotels, car rentals and looking at all of the logistics she may be responsible for. She has already successfully landed the floral arrangements for the wedding which she is already excited to be helping pick out colors for their anticipated October wedding.
It will mean taking a week off during my favorite season – high school football – but this is a special occasion and I can take lots of pictures there.
I am looking forward to it with great anticipation.
