Day 1 in the Books

January 17, 2013 - Seth Staskey
The opening day of the 60th annual Ron Mauck OVAC Wrestling Tournament is completed and basically everything went according to plan. The seeds held true for the most part, Parkersburg South and Steubenville shot out to the top of the leaderboard and the big schools are all over the leaderboard. Shadyside's top three seeds cruised to the second round. Actually, none of the top seeds had a tough match. Only seven of the 112 seeded wrestlers find themselves in the consolation bracket after the opening night. There were tons of pins and some quick ones, too. Included was Wheeling Park's Cody Amos in just 7 seconds.

Make sure to follow The Times Leader website all weekend for results and updates. You can also follow me on Twitter at TLSportsSeth for updates throughout the event.
