Jamboree in the Hills Preview Time
June 12, 2013 - Michael Palmer
I have to admit that Jamboree in the Hills is my favorite time to be a reporter. As a photographer my favorite venue is high school sports, but when it comes to writing I thoroughly enjoy interviewing country music artists.
The most fun is finding out who is behind the persona you see when they perform live on stage and then learning some facts about their lives or careers that will interest the readers.
This year there are many local artists on the line up and that is exciting. After all the history of the Jamboree is WWVA's original country music showcase that always featured local talent.
The first preview article is in the Thursday June 13, edition and will be in the Ticket section. The group is a trio from Wheeling, The Joseph Sisters. They are both beautiful and talented and the article features some local stages where you can hear them perform this summer.
Next week will feature Jason Thomas. You might recall his debut single, “Somebody Down Here Loves Me”
Absolutely a fun interview and an interesting back story as well.
Looking forward to meeting him in person in July.
Then there are the Jambo Wraps, the special covers for our papers sold at the concert. These are really a challenge to design but again I really enjoy designing them.
Other locals also on the list are Joe Zelek and his new band The Rust Belt Kings and local artist Matt Van Fossen.
Are you ready for the biggest party of the year?
