Let's Talk

POSTED:Wed, May 7, 2008 @ 2:37PM

Being of Sound Mind and Body

I'm an animal lover, and I do what I can to get orphan dogs and cats off the street, having adopted my fair share of dogs and cats and finding homes for others.

But I was amazed to learn of a woman in Belmont County who included in her will a large sum of money to be donated to the Belmont County Dog Pound upon her death.

Recently, the Belmont County Commissioners passed a motion that accepted the bequeathed sum of $88,028.19 to be transfered to the dog pound for the purpose of helping the dogs find temporary homes until they can be placed with loving families.

I was amazed that someone could be so generous.

It made me sad though, thinking that, although this person has done a great dead to help the animals in her home county, perhaps she did it because she didn't have any person to which to leave her money.

No one present at the meeting seemed to know who the woman was.

Either that or this person was just extremely lucky to have been so wealthy in her life that she had so much to go around.

Regardless, some lucky puppies will be grateful to soon find comfort in warm beds somewhere.
