August 12, 2008 - Seth Staskey
It's the greatest time of every four years. For two weeks, the entire nation -- regardless of location, income or interests -- unites for a common cause. The time to root on their fellow Americans as they chase the ultimate prize in amateur sports, the Olympic gold. There's nothing like the Olympic Games. While they started with a somber moment, the thrill of sports and competition have taken over since. Michael Phelps, Natalie Coughlin, Aaron Piersol and the rest of the American swimming team is off to a strong start. How about th American shooter and fencer winning golds? Just an amazing time and I haven't even mentioned the "Redeem Team." Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and company leading the way, the American appear primed to re-capture the gold. The women's team is strong again and in its final Olympic year, the softball team appears on its way to the top prize.

It's just a great time for sports and most importantly a great time to be an American.
