| | Local DebatesOctober 3, 2008 - Robert "Bubba" KapralPolitical debates on the national level generate a great deal of excitement. Frequently, they fail to deliver a clear-cut winner or a major blunder which may swing the electorate's thinking. Thursday's vice-presidential debate was a case in point. Who was the winner is up for debate and no significant, if any, change will likely result in the national polls. But I think it would be neat if we could hold more one-on-one debates on the local scene. True, many meet-the-candidate forums are held, but they simply are a forum for respective candidates to state their cases with no verbal sparring involved. If commissioner, sheriff and prosecutor foes could go face-to-face, the public would definitely get a better insight on the candidates in question.
