Tunneling Ahead

The West Virginia Division of Highways and Wheeling Tunnel project contractors appear to have learned from past mistakes. Officials noted this past weekend that the eastbound tube renovation is progressing smoothly and is on target for its?Nov. 1 opening. That is refreshing news to hear after last year's massive train wreck of a project which had to be eventually put on hold. Now with the eastbound work slated to be done in less than a month, WVDOH officials are looking to put out bids for the westbound tube. We have faith in the WVDOH that this time it will get it right and the westbound work will be smooth sailing from the get go. A repeat of the fiasco that felled the eastbound work is not acceptable.
