Economic Gloom

December 24, 2008 - Robert "Bubba" Kapral
News that the Burger Power Plant, located just south of Shadyside, may be laying off some 100 workers in the near future is another sign of the economic times... those signs being very ominous ones. As we close out 2008, it will go down in the history books as one of the most economic painful years ever. Plant and business closings, layoffs and bailouts all add up to uncertainty and fear for what the future may hold. The Ohio Valley has been especially hard hit. We can only hope that 2009 yields a turnaround in the economic climate for our local area. We are not sure how much more the Ohio Valley can endure.
