Preparing to Travel

December 30, 2008 - Seth Staskey
I am sitting at my desk in the office less than 48 hours from my departure for Phoenix, Az and the 2009 Fiesta Bowl where the Ohio State Buckeyes will meet the Texas Longhorns.

While the idea of traveling is exciting, it can also be a little bit stressful. Making sure you've got all of the items you need is part of it. Since temperatures in Phoenix are expected to rise near 70, you need to pack a little differently. Plus, when you are going as a member of the media, you must make sure you've got all of your gear for work purposes.

I am almost sure that I am going to forget something. Whether it's socks or my shampoo, I am sure something will get left behind.

The flight takes off at 6:35 a.m. New Years morning from Pittsburgh and after a brief stop in Cincinnati, I should be on the ground at Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix around 2 p.m. EST.

I will be filing stories and blogging all weekend from the dessert as the Buckeyes prepare to face the Longhorns.

Hopefully, you will check back in the coming days as I explain the trip and the game. I plan on doing some heavy sight seeing and also going to catch a Phoenix Coyotes NHL game on Friday. The Cardinals are in town for their wild card round game on Saturday afternoon, but I think I am going to pass on that. I am sure the city will be alive for that.

Anyway, hope everyone has a Happy and SAFE New Year. Hopefully, the Buckeyes get it done and 2009 gets off to a good start.

Talk to you soon from Arizona.
