Saturday in Phoenix
January 3, 2009 - Seth Staskey
Another beautiful day weather wise hit the 'Valley of the Sun' and the surrounding areas today.
Early this morning, I fired off two more stories for use in Sunday's paper and then it was time to get in some more sightseeing.
Had an enjoyable day once again. Took in the annual Fiesta Bowl Parade in downtown Phoenix. The parade lasted the better part of two hours and included both the marching bands of Ohio State and Texas. Brutus Buckeye and the Longhorn Steer Bevo made an appearance as well.
Chants of OH-IO ran loud and clear along the parade route as droves of Buckeye supporters continued to pour into the dessert.
After the parade, headed East on Interstate 10 into the Mesa/Tempe area and went to the Arizona Mills Mall. Really nice place. Didn't buy anything, but it was a nice place.
This evening, there's a media dinner/party and then there is a Block Party for Buckeye supporters, which is like a Varsity Club West as it's being billed.
The Arizona Cardinals just finished off the Atlanta Falcons as I am typing this, so I am sure the city will be alive tonight celebrating that victory.
