January 6, 2008 - Seth Staskey
Well, there are less than 24 hours until game time in New Orleans and I am sure the players are cooped up in their hotel rooms, preparing to get a good night's sleep in preparation for Monday's BCS National Championship Game. It's a game that the people in Ohio have been waiting on since the first Saturday in December when both WVU and Missouri lost, allowing the Buckeyes to move into the title game. We think it's going to be a defensive struggle. The Buckeyes will have to contain Matt Flynn and will have to find a way to block Glenn Dorsey. The reason I am picking OSU (other than I am a huge Buckeyes' fan) is because of the Jim Tressel vs. Les Miles factor. I am not a believer in Les Miles. I was rooting my tail off for Michigan to hire him as its head coach. I think Miles' river-boat gambling approach is going to cost him in the long run. Tressel plays it close to the vest, which will be a big help in a big game. Also, let's not forget how much the Buckeyes learned from last year's debacle. I hope I am not typing early Tuesday morning that the entire state of Ohio is in mourning. Let's call it....OSU 24-17. I haven't been too good with my picks during this bowl season, but as we've seen all season, expect the unexpected in college football.
In Conclusion...GO BUCKS.
