Burger Plant

February 10, 2009 - Robert "Bubba" Kapral
THE FOCUS GROUP fighting to keep the R.E. Burger plant a viable operation should be praised for its efforts. The group staged a public meeting this week to champion the cause, one vital to the well-being of Belmont County, in particular, Shadyside. The session attracted legislators, union members as well as the general public. The need to keep the power plant working is an obvious one. Hopefully, FirstEnergy, owners of the plant, falls in line with that mode of thinking. All the public support for the plant is laudable. FirstEnergy, however, is going to do what it feels most feasible. We hope the company doesn't turn a deaf ear to the public's Burger plant's pleas.
