| | Coal is the answerMarch 3, 2009 - Robert "Bubba" KapralRenewable energy is a worthwhile avenue to help ease the United States off the need for foreign oil. Wind power appears to have generated the most interest while solar power and bio-deisel are also alternate energy sources that may be harnessed in greater fashion in years to come. But for a quick fix, and one that boosts the economic picture of the tri-state region, coal is the answer. We have enough coal to last centuries. Letting massive reserves of coal lay dormant underground makes no sense. I am not anti-environmentalist. I like a clean and breathable atmosphere as much as the next person. But jobs and a failing economy are bigger concerns. Coal can help remedy those problems. We need to relax clean air standards so that coal becomes a bigger player in the current U.S. energy scheme.
