Swinging into spring

March 16, 2009 - Robert "Bubba" Kapral
Regardless of what the calendar says, spring was ushered in Sunday at 12:30 p.m. That is when I hit my first drive of the golf season. My buddy Smokey and I played nine holes at Clair Mar in Powhatan Point. As expected, my first shot was a worm burner. I double bogeyed the first hole, mid-season form right off the bat. The course was in fine shape and the weather was ideal, overcast and not the least bit cold. Clair Mar was surprisingly fairly sparse. The round got better with 3 pars en route to a 42. The score was insignificant, the round was super -- golf season had arrived. Other than prep football, it it the most special time of the year.
