Bunch of Stuff
January 11, 2008 - Seth Staskey
There's a lot going on in the sports world and believe it or not, much to my dismay, the world didn't cease after the Buckeyes' loss.
The Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs are this week and many pundits claim this is the NFL's greatest weekend. The final four of each conference are set to take to the field. We really believe the chance at an upset comes in Dallas Sunday afternoon when the Giants invade. If Eli Manning can continue to play like he did last week in Tampa, the Giants could be a tough out. I also believe the Seahawks will advance. Brett Favre has announced he's coming back for next year and that alone tells me the Packers won't be in the Super Bowl. He had a great year and is an obvious first-ballot Hall of Famer, but it's time to step aside Brett.
In the AFC, the Chargers and Jaguars will be out this weekend and the matchup that everyone wanted to occur the following Sunday in Indianapolis. The Colts and Patriots will meet once again for a trip to the Super Bowl.
A busy weekend of prep sports is highlighted by the opening of the Martins Ferry High School gymnasium. Let me just tell you, that thing is superb. Had a nice opportunity to look around the new Rider digs and it's top shelf. Martins Ferry had the opportunity to get it done and they did it. Kudos to everyone for making it a reality. It was long-awaited and much-needed. The athletic facilities are gorgeous and will just continue to insure that the Riders remain near the top in every athletic program they offer.
