Big Reds' Boss

June 9, 2009 - Robert "Bubba" Kapral
The Bellaire Board of Education is nearing a decision on a new district superintendent. That post took on lame-duck status several months ago when John Stinoski announced his plans to step down later this summer. I commend the board for its timely and thorough search for an eventual replacement. Some 21 initial individuals expressed interest, with that number now pared to six. Those half dozen will be interviewed again the next two days with an eventual survivor surfacing in the near future. I am not privy to the final six. But I do believe if things are going well, it is always prudent to promote from within. Having said that, Bellaire schools are in better shape than many of their Ohio Valley peers. So our vote is to the in-house aspirant.
