With a heavy heart

Dear Friends, My mother, Alice Palmer, known to many as Nona, died Sunday evening at 9:05 PM with her family at her side in. She suffered a second heart attack early last Wednesday and the damage to her heart was too severe. Thanks for all your prayers.
Alice May Palmer, 83, of Dennison, O., passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2009 at Aultman Hospital in Canton, O., following a lengthy illness. Born May 4, 1926 in Uhrichsville, O., she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Edith (Gebelin) Visintainer.
Alice grew up in the Twin City area and was the Clay Queen in 1950. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Dennison in the class of 1944 and had been looking forward to joining her classmates at their sixty-fifth reunion in August. In her younger years, she worked at the former United Bank in Uhrichsville, as well as for the 250 Truckstop for a number of years.
On October 30, 1957, Alice married William Wesley Palmer who survives her. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker to her family which includes a son, Michael A. Palmer and his wife, Susan (Beck), of Dennison; three daughters, Licia J. Palmer and her husband, Darrin Petrey, of Newark, O., Denee M. Burton and her husband, Steve, of Belpre, O., and Renee H. Palmer of the home; seven grandchildren, Joseph Anthony “Tony” Palmer, Phylicia M. Campbell, April A. Palmer, Summer M. Petrey, Tyler McMahan, Alexis Palmer and Miranda Burton; and a great granddaughter, Zoey Campbell.
Alice is also survived by a brother, Robert Visintainer and his wife, Bea, of Georgia; a sister, Joyce Choquette and her husband, Tom, of Cincinnati; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Alice and her family made their home in Newark, O. from 1969 to 1993, during which time she worked for Denison University and Newark Public Schools for their libraries. She was a member of St. Leonard’s Catholic Church in Heath and its Altar Society.
Since returning to the area of her youth, she and Bill have lived near Bowerston where she has been a member of the Bowerston Women’s club. She is also a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison and its Altar Society.
Services for Alice, officiated by Father Bill Arnold, will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 2, at Immaculate Conception Church. Interment will follow in Tunnel Hill Cemetery near Bowerston.
Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
