| | Turf WarNovember 4, 2009 - Robert "Bubba" KapralMonroe Central was dealt a tough hand when its football field was deemed unplayable for the Seminoles' playoff opener against Wheelersburg. The Noles, based on their 9-1 record, earned a right to host in Week 11. Mother Nature, however, wasn't accommodating. Between the heavy and frequent rain and cold temperatures, many local grid turfs went through virtual meatgrinders, resulting in unplayable surfaces. I tip my helmet to head Coach Jay Circosta and the Monroe Central heirarchy for having the class to move their game nearly an hour away to Marietta at a neutral site in a first-rate facility. They did so in the spirit of fair play and sportsmanship. A gesture like that is hopefully rewarded with a Seminoles' victory.
