| | Video Games Beware!December 4, 2009 - Kim ColletteI have officially become a nerd! I am as shocked as you are! I am addicted to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (C.O.D.)! I am shocked because I am definitely not a huge fan of video games. I never really got into the whole craze. Back in the day I remember playing Burger Time on the Intellivison and Qbert on the Atari. My brother had the original Nintendo and I can recall playing Super Mario Brothers and even Tecmo-Bowl. However....I never rushed home to play and never got overly excited about playing. I really didn't get the whole thing....they are just games right? Fast forward to November 2008. My boyfriend bought the xbox360. I became a "video game widow". He would spend countless hours in what he has termed "lockdown" trying to beat video games. The 2 he played the most were Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto. I'll admit that it sorta bugged me that he would spend all that time with a video game and not me. It was a lonely few months. And, I still never really played except for a few attempts at being a Guitar Hero. Then, the calendar flipped to November 2009. OH NO.....a new C.O.D. was coming out. I thought for sure I'd become the "video game widow" again. But...to my surprise....my boyfriend needed my help with the new game! I warned him I wouldn't be much help seeing as how I am really bad at video games, but that I would try. And.....the rest is history! I can now understand why so many people become addicted to video games. Just last night, my boyfriend and I played C.O.D. We lost all track of time and finally realized we had been playing for well over 3 hours! My competitive side is definitely brought out by C.O.D. so I will play until I finally accomplish the mission. Plus the graphics and audio are so realistic. (Have you seen the commercial where the boyfriend told his girlfriend his video game was a movie?) It really is like you are in the action going on around you. I have turned the corner from video game doubter to full fledged fan! It's 11a.m. on Friday morning. Sad to say.....I am counting down the hours until I get to go home and continue our missions on C.O.D. Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article. Post a Comment | |
