I had the opportunity to take in the Columbus Blue Jackets Saturday night in a 3-1 loss to Anaheim.
I am sure this will get called out by a few of my buddies, but it was an enjoyable evening. NHL on television isn't for me, but live it's a lot better. It's a shame there were still 5,000 or so empty seats in Nationwide Arena.
First of all, the game's exciting in person. Secondly, the team's coming off a playoff berth and it's the only professional sport in town. Thirdly, Nationwide Arena is a great venue to watch a game in.
I realize NHL attendance is down basically all over the league except for in Pittsburgh and in Canada, but I think the people in Columbus will be highly disappointed if that teams leaves and judging my published reports, that time might not be too far off seeing the team is losing money each and every year.
I would highly advise making it to a game sooner than later. You might find it to be not that bad.
